In October, a Broadway actress starring in a featured role in the musical, “The Color Purple,” engaged me to assist her with a product idea. The project: to take the handbag she designed and have it be featured for sale in the kiosk in the show’s lobby in 90 days or less.

This was no small feat: taking a product from an unknown designer and make it magically appear on the show kiosk of a major Broadway theater.

The result: Through my guidance and preparation for her meetings with designing partners, show producers, publicists, and the worldwide kiosk operations company director as well as introductions to key team members to provide proper legal guidance, her idea went from thought to the Broadway kiosk by the end of January, just shy of 90 days from when I met with her in October.

I designed the pitch to the industry leaders which successfully engaged their participation in the project, advised the CEO on every part of the process from writing interview questions and interviewing techniques to crafting a content approval system to successfully acquiring permissions for perpetual use of the material as well as promotional permissions for their pictures and images, and organizing a time-sensitive system for collecting consumer input to include in the project.

I was also asked to organize, edit and stitch together the content of the manuscript from more than 60 individuals including the CEO’s featured content into a fluid, easy-to-read book that could be enjoyed by those new to the industry as well as appreciated by those who were already familiar with it.

The successful execution and coordination of all of the processes mentioned above and more were completed in just 77 days.
